PRACTICAL INSTALLATION GUIDE
Home EV Charger Installation: Site & Society Checklist
Published 28 October 2026 · Updated 28 October 2026 · Vasudha EV editorial team
A home EV charger should fit your vehicle, parking space and electrical supply. For an apartment or housing society, the route from the supply point to your bay, permission to use common areas and the electricity arrangement are part of the plan. Start with those practical details before choosing equipment or requesting an installation quote.
Your enquiry checklist
- Vehicle make, model and intended charging hours
- Charger make, model and supplier, if selected
- Assigned or shared parking arrangement
- Parking and cable-route photographs
- Available connection and electrical information
- Society, landlord or property contact
- Electricity billing and maintenance expectations
Start with the vehicle and time parked
Share the vehicle make and model, connector information and any charger already supplied by the vehicle manufacturer. The vehicle’s supported AC charging power and the hours available at home matter more than choosing the highest advertised charger rating. Ask the vehicle or equipment supplier to confirm compatibility and any warranty conditions that affect installation.
Map your parking bay to the supply point
Send photographs of the bay, the proposed mounting position and the route to the relevant electrical distribution point. Record whether the parking is assigned or shared, whether cable pathways cross common areas, and how the installation can remain accessible for servicing. A longer cable route, difficult access or civil preparation can change the installation scope.
Bring the society or property team into the discussion
For shared buildings, clarify the approval process with the committee, facility team or property owner. Discuss who controls the parking area and cable route, how electricity will be measured and paid for, and who will manage maintenance. The required documents and technical approvals depend on the property and the current applicable requirements. A common brief makes the decision easier for everyone involved.

Review electrical readiness with the responsible professional
Existing connection capacity, building demand, distribution, protection and earthing need technical assessment. Do not assume a nearby socket or an unused parking bay is ready for vehicle charging. The installation proposal should explain any additional electrical work, responsible contractors and checks needed for the equipment and location.
Compare the complete installation scope
Ask what is included in equipment supply, mounting, cabling, electrical works, site preparation, testing and handover. Clarify who supports the charger afterwards and how a fault should be reported. Keep the equipment model, installation records and contact details together so future servicing starts with useful information.
Send a useful first enquiry
Share your city, vehicle model, bay photographs, charger details, approximate supply-to-bay distance and the property contact. If some electrical information is unavailable, say what the facility team can provide. Vasudha is based in Mumbai and welcomes home and housing-society installation enquiries; the conversation starts with your particular location and requirement.
